Carl Hurtig

Carl R. Hurtig is an inventor and entrepreneur who founded three successful research companies: the Damon Corporation, Encor Limited, and Micronic Systems AB. He received his undergraduate degree from Northeastern and an M.S. in electrical engineering from MIT. Carl is a recognized authority on the design of crystal filters and voltage-controlled crystal oscillators. He has been granted ten patents.

Carl has been generous to Northeastern for many decades, supporting the Carl Hurtig Endowed Fund, the Carl R. Hurtig Scholarship, the Hurtig Family Scholarship in Engineering, as well as the Edward L. Hurtig Scholarship and Edward L. Hurtig Hall, named in loving memory of his brother.

Carl is a lifetime trustee emeritus, a former chairman of the Academic Affairs Committee, and a member emeritus of the National Council. He was awarded an Outstanding Engineering Alumni Award in 2002.
